Norwegian Luna 2026: What’s New on NCL’s Newest Ship

The Norwegian Luna cruise ship debuts March 2026 with a transatlantic maiden voyage before settling into Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries. As NCL’s second Prima Plus-class vessel, Luna represents the line’s current design peak. It offers expanded entertainment, refined dining, and cabin options for solo travelers, families, and couples.

If you’re weighing whether to book an inaugural sailing, here’s what sets this vessel apart.

The Ship Basics

Luna carries approximately 3,565 passengers at double occupancy across 1,760 staterooms. She’s built on the Prima-class platform. It incorporates refinements from Norwegian Prima, Viva, and Aqua—better flow on Ocean Boulevard, improved pool deck layout, and upgraded entertainment venues.

The ship launches March 10, 2026 with a transatlantic maiden voyage from Rome to Miami, then moves into 4- to 7-night Caribbean loops roundtrip from Miami through November 2026. Think short Bahamas getaways (Great Stirrup Cay, Nassau, Bimini) and longer Western Caribbean runs (Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán, Grand Cayman).

Current April 2026 pricing for 7-night Caribbean sailings starts around $800-$1,200 per person for inside cabins.. Solo Studio cabins run $1,400-$2,000 for the same sailings.

What’s New: Entertainment
Rocket Man: Elton John Tribute Show

Luna debuts “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” in the main Luna Theater. This is a full-production tribute show developed with Elton John’s Rocket Entertainment Group. The show features live band, vocalists, and dancers running through hits like “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Bennie and the Jets,” and “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.”

According to preview footage, the production includes elaborate staging with grand piano-shaped structures that performers climb, flip off, and slide around. It’s designed as a high-energy concert experience, not a theatrical storyline show.

Other New Shows

Luna also introduces “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder”—a sci-fi Cirque-style production with mixed reality visuals and a 60-piece orchestral score. Additional entertainment includes “Syd Norman’s Presents: A Tribute to Eagles” and LunaTique, a 21+ late-night Vegas-style party experience.

The Luna Theater & Club converts from a three-story theater to a three-story nightclub with dual bars, interactive chandelier, and enhanced lighting for late-night programming.

What’s New: Dining

Luna adds Sukhothai, a Thai specialty restaurant, and Planterie, NCL’s first fully plant-based venue serving salads, grain bowls, smoothies, and plant-forward mains.

The complete dining lineup includes:

Complimentary: Hudson’s (main dining), The Commodore Room (main dining), Surfside Café & Grill (buffet), Indulge Food Hall (international food stations), Planterie (plant-based), The Local (24-hour pub fare)

Specialty (cover charge): Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro (French), Los Lobos (Mexican), Onda by Scarpetta (Italian), Palomar (Mediterranean seafood), Nama (sushi), Sukhothai (Thai), Hasuki (Asian fusion)

Luna’s Indulge Food Hall expands on the Prima-class concept with more outdoor seating on Ocean Boulevard, iPad ordering, and a mix of complimentary and upcharge options in one space.

Solo Travelers: 73 Studio Staterooms

Luna dedicates 73 Studio staterooms to solo travelers, all priced for single occupancy with no supplement. These 95-square-foot interior cabins feature full-size bed, separate bathroom with shower, private keycard access complex on Decks 12-13, and exclusive Studio Lounge for socializing.

Studios on Luna also include Solo Balcony categories for the first time in the Prima Plus class.

Recent 2026 pricing shows Studios starting around $1,400-$2,000 per person for 7-night Caribbean sailing.

Family Cabins and The Haven

Luna offers 385 inside cabins, 66 oceanview, and 946 balconies, many with connecting options for families. Family-specific categories include Family Inside/Oceanview (sleeps 4, 235-370 sq ft), Family Balcony (sleeps 4, 230 sq ft + balcony), and Family Club Balcony Suite (sleeps 4-6, 250-290 sq ft + priority boarding, specialty dining, and lounge access).

Luna’s Haven complex includes 107 suites ranging from 255 sq ft Club Balcony Suites up to 1,015 sq ft Deluxe Owner’s Suites with 730 sq ft balconies. All Haven guests get private sundeck with pool, exclusive Haven Restaurant, butler and concierge service, and priority boarding.

Outdoor Spaces

Luna refines the Ocean Boulevard promenade that wraps the ship on Deck 8. It offers more seating nooks, Indulge Outdoor Lounge with food truck service and hammocks, Infinity Beach (two infinity-edge pools at the stern), and better flow between dining venues and outdoor spaces.

The top deck pool area includes the Aqua Slidecoaster—a hybrid water slide with uphill magnetic propulsion and drop sections—plus family splash zones, adults-only Vibe Beach Club, and multiple bars.

Who Luna Works Best For

Solo travelers. The 73 Studios with private lounge access make Luna one of the best mainstream cruise ships for solo cruisers. You’re not paying a penalty, and you have a built-in social space.

Families with kids. Expanded kids’ clubs, water play areas, family suites, and flexible dining (no assigned seating or fixed times) make multi-generational trips smoother.

Caribbean regulars who want newness. If you’ve sailed standard Caribbean routes multiple times, Luna’s new entertainment, dining, and expanded outdoor spaces justify booking the newest hardware even if the itinerary is familiar.

How Luna Compares to Other 2026 Ships

Norwegian Aqua (launched 2025) is Luna’s sister ship with near-identical design. The primary difference is entertainment (Luna has Elton John and Eagles shows; Aqua has different productions).

Celebrity’s Xcel and Xcelerate (2025-2026) offer Edge-class design with Magic Carpet, and the Retreat. More luxurious finishes and elevated service than Luna, but fewer cabin categories for families and high solo supplements. Better for couples prioritizing design and dining; Luna wins for families and solo travelers.

Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady (2025) is adults-only (18+) with rebellious branding, included dining, and built-in fitness/wellness focus. No kids, no casino, no traditional shows. If you want a party-forward, adult vibe, Virgin delivers; if you’re traveling with family, Luna fits better
