Solo Travelers

Celebrity offers Edge Single Staterooms with Infinite Veranda (184 sq ft) on Edge Class ships and Interior Single Staterooms (103 sq ft) on Celebrity Silhouette. These dedicated solo cabins eliminate single supplements, but availability is limited and they sell out quickly.

Modern Luxury

This is Celebrity's sweet spot. While not quite at the level of lines like Explora Journeys or Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection, Celebrity delivers contemporary luxury with excellent design, sophisticated dining, and attentive service. The Retreat provides a luxury suite experience within Celebrity's refined atmosphere.

Adventure Travel

Celebrity isn't really an adventure line - their focus is on refined relaxation rather than adrenaline activities. Alaska itineraries offer wilderness experiences and glacier viewing, but don't expect rock climbing walls or go-kart tracks like you'd find elsewhere.

Celebrity Cruises

We recommend Celebrity to clients who want sophistication without stuffiness. Their “Modern Luxury Lives Here” campaign positioned them perfectly between mainstream lines and true luxury – think contemporary hotel elegance rather than traditional cruise formality. Celebrity attracts well-traveled guests who appreciate good design, excellent food, and thoughtful service. They’re not trying to be the most exciting cruise line; they’re aiming to be the most refined.

The Celebrity Experience

Guest reviews reveal Celebrity’s sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere. One recent Instagram post noted: “Celebrity Ascent was my first and only experience with @celebritycruises and it exceeded my already high expectations.” Another guest shared: “Here’s what we thought! We booked a sky suite with a balcony on their newest ship Ascent. The room, service, food and amenities were wonderful!” The atmosphere attracts discerning travelers who appreciate quality design, excellent service, and refined experiences over flashy entertainment.

Newest Ships & Innovation

Celebrity’s newest generation, the Edge Class ships, represent their most innovative designs, with Celebrity Xcel launching November 2025 as the fifth in the series. These ships carry 2,908-3,260 passengers and feature groundbreaking elements like the Magic Carpet – a 90-ton, tennis court-sized platform that moves up and down the ship’s side, serving as everything from a specialty restaurant to tender boarding dock. The Infinite Veranda staterooms are controversial – Celebrity’s president admits they’re “very polarizing” with guests who “either love it or hate it.” These cabins blur indoor/outdoor living with floor-to-ceiling windows that open completely, but some guests prefer traditional balconies. Edge Class ships are 21 meters longer than their predecessors, allowing for expanded venues like the multi-tiered Sunset Bar.

Unique Celebrity Experiences

The Magic Carpet offers an interesting dining experience when positioned as “Dinner on the Edge” – an exclusive multi-course meal literally hanging over the ocean. For tendering, it eliminates the usual cramped boarding area by providing a spacious outdoor platform where tender boats pull alongside. Celebrity Xcel debuts The Bazaar with destination-inspired festivals that change based on ports visited. Each festival features regional foods, crafts, dance classes, and local entertainment – when docked in St. Kitts, The Bazaar transforms into a Caribbean festival with island music and cuisine. The space includes Mosaic restaurant with port-inspired menus and a Chef’s Studio for destination cooking classes, plus Spice offering rotating bites themed to upcoming ports. The AquaClass spa experience includes thermal suites with steam rooms, saunas, heated loungers, and experiential showers, providing a more wellness-focused cruise experience.

Solo Travelers Experience

Celebrity offers two types of solo cabins designed specifically for single occupancy. Edge Class ships feature Edge Single Staterooms with Infinite Veranda – 184 total square feet (142 sq ft cabin + 42 sq ft veranda) located on Deck 6. These feature the controversial Infinite Veranda windows rather than traditional balconies. Celebrity Silhouette offers 4 Interior Single Staterooms at 103 square feet on Deck 9 near elevators. However, it can be tough to find availability for solo travelers on some popular sailings – sometimes we can only find quotes for suite classes, which come with hefty single supplements of 100-200% or more when solo travelers book regular double-occupancy cabins.

Sophisticated Entertainment

Celebrity’s theater productions focus on artistry rather than spectacle. Shows like “A Hot Summer Night’s Dream” combine Shakespeare with acrobatics, “Elements” explores the five elements through technology and aerial performances, and “Arte” brings famous artworks to life through music and dance. The Edge Class theater features a 20-foot 4K LED screen that curves 110 feet around the stage, plus floor projection technology. Rather than Vegas-style revues, Celebrity emphasizes sophisticated performances that appeal to cultured audiences who appreciate artistic depth over high-energy entertainment.

Food on Board

Edge Class ships feature four themed main dining rooms instead of one large venue. Cyprus celebrates Celebrity’s Greek heritage with Mediterranean seafood, Normandie offers contemporary French cuisine, Tuscan features Southern Italian specialties including housemade pasta, and Cosmopolitan serves New American with global influences. Each restaurant changes menus nightly but also maintains signature dishes. The Oceanview Cafe buffet spans two decks with stations arranged centrally and window seating that fills quickly at lunch. Le Petit Chef provides an immersive 90-minute experience where animated chefs are projected onto your plate while corresponding courses are served. As one guest noted: “My friend and I did it in January and loved it! The animation was adorable and we both thought the food was fantastic.” At $65 per person, it’s worth trying once for the novelty factor.

The Retreat Experience

Celebrity’s suite program includes 10 different suite categories, with The Retreat providing exclusive access to Luminae restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a private sundeck with pools and cabanas on Edge Class ships. One unique feature is Sky Aqua Class suites, which provide access to both Luminae (The Retreat’s restaurant) and Blu (AquaClass restaurant) – essentially giving you dual dining privileges. The Retreat Lounge offers continental breakfast, all-day beverages, and evening canapés with dedicated concierge service.

AquaClass & Spa Experience

AquaClass provides access to Blu restaurant and thermal suite privileges. Blu focuses on clean cuisine with dishes like herb-crusted rack of lamb and pan-seared filet mignon, emphasizing healthy preparations without sacrificing flavor. The thermal suite features steam rooms, saunas, heated stone loungers, and experiential showers. AquaClass appeals to wellness-focused travelers who want spa amenities integrated into their cruise experience, with Blu serving as a quieter, more intimate dining venue than the main restaurants.
